Look, men are more likely to be murdered just like women are more likely to be raped. Does that mean I walk in constant fear of being mugged and shot? No because the likelihood is extremely low. That might be because where I live is a smallish city, but even if I was in the close major cities like DC or Baltimore, I still wouldn’t be constantly afraid. However, does that mean I’m going to skip down a shady alley at night? No, that’s common sense. All that to say, why exactly is there a constant fear among women of being raped when that crime, like murder or theft or any other is already rare, and even more is only 1/4 of the time by a total stranger? I understand why, but you can’t blame every man for a fear that is self inflicted. At the same time, if you’re drunk at 2 am and half nude, you’re basically running around in a thunderstorm holding a metal pipe 5 feet above your head — it’s not ultimately your fault you got struck, but you didn’t help and you can’t factor it out. You also can’t tell me and every other dude we support rape simply because we share the simplest thing you can with 50% of the population. It just shy of enrages me to be told I’m down with rape, that I was never taught it’s evil, that we love to trivialize it, don’t punish rapists, blame the victim etc. I don’t know where the hell you live where that’s the case, but assuming you’re American it’s complete bollocks. If you want a rape-culture just find a catholic diocese
