Greetings… or however you are supposed to start these things

I don’t know whether to start with things about me or what I plan to do with this blog. I guess I’ll flip a coin.

So about this blog. Or, I guess, medium. What do people call it here? Is it like tumblr where only some people call it a blog, or is it like wordpress where it would be sort of strange for a person to refer to their blog as “their wordpress”. I’m just going to settle for blog and use it until somebody yells at me. Great life philosophy there.

So, this blog. This blog is going to be about programming. I am no master programming, I am not here to show you some groundbreaking technique or be your blog-based mentor. I am a learner. And I like learning about weird things. Currently I am learning about emulators and I’m also interested in hobby OS development and python overall. So, for now, my articles will probably be about the interesting things I learn from those as well as showing off my progress on projects. Also, I lied earlier. I am going to try to teach some stuff. I hope to take what I am learning with these concepts and turn it into a tutorial format. So, for the hobby OS stuff, wouldn’t it be cool to learn how to build your own OS kernel. Or wouldn’t it be cool to see how to build your own Chip8, or maybe even NES/N64/etc. emulator? I think it would… though I’m already specifically into those things.

So no for the about me section. I’m 19, a sophomore CS student, and certified nerd. I’ve had some sort of relationship with programming since the age of 13, though I didn’t get serious until the age of 17. I am an avid pythonista, though I’ve touched most major programming languages and wan’t to check out Go and Rust since it seems like everybody is talking about them nowadays. Currently, through school, I am learning MASM (Microsoft Macro Assembler). It was actually sort of strange to start learning about emulators recently because I’d been thinking in assembly for so long, it was strange to just declare a variable or do addition without throwing things into registers. I’ll probably talk about Assembly a bit as well since I think it’s pretty good, though after this semester, I don’t think I’d be able to post anything too enlightening besides some MASM tutorials.

So I hope you found this interesting enough to stick around. I’ll be talking about a lot of weird things and it’s going to be an interesting ride. See you around.
