What does it mean that some people never move beyond death — that some live and die within their trauma and never experience new life?

Such an important question and one that is rapidly approaching as we begin to encounter clients. My thoughts go back to How People Change that we read for psychopathology and his concept of freedom. Where is the hope in Auschwitz, Syria, Paris, Brussels, or even here, within me today?
