One caper. Three scenes. Eight songs
The soundtrack to one of the capers in the ‘Austin af’ screenplay

Writing a screenplay involves a lot jumping back and forth time, from one scene to another in a non-linear way, making it difficult (for me) to maintain a consistency in tone, style and character dialog.
Music is very helpful to quickly regain the mindset of a scene after not working on it for a while. Previously I’ve shared long lists of songs without any context, the below is a more focused, scene specific approach.

The caper is the protagonists (Polly, Burr and Chev) sneaking into a fictional leather works to find out where the antagonists get their vellum paper. Vellum is made from actual animal skin, a process still in use today. As one can imagine, slaughtering animals to make paper isn’t a bright and cheering scene setting, so the song selection reflects that tension/suspense/horror.

Below are the eight songs in chronological order for a three scene sequence of one of the capers in the ‘Austin af’ screenplay. The linear order is for both beats per minute (BPM) and tonality — transitioning from lighthearted fun, to “sneaking around where you shouldn’t be” tension, to downright creepy, then culminating in a cathartic release.
…beware fraidy-cats, don’t listen to this “mini-soundtrack” if you’re the type who gets creeped out easily :D
