Ontological Indeterminacy or The Fish that Got Away
Derrida = meaning is a slippery fish. In fact, it’s so slippery no one can catch it. We grab at it, but all we’re left with is a fishy-residue — a mark that it was here, but here no-longer. The fish exist and the fish does not exist. It’s never there, but our incessant talk about this fish keeps it from disappearing into the void. Look at your hands, that residue is not evidence of a slippery fish — that slime is our incessant talk about the fish.
