Monkey Business
I continually ask the question: “What happens after you cut government expenditure across the board?”
Does the economy suddenly get better? No. People are out of work, infrastructure fails, and most people become very afraid of tomorrow.
This kind of ideological warfare at the expense of millions is nothing more than work of lazy people, lazy leadership.
Is Labour 100% correct? No. But no one is…
We need investment to promote change (not overall growth) in the economy — the UK is quickly becoming a wasteland of sorts with broken road, rails, and bridges. If not for the beautiful County of Yorkshire in which I reside, I would have gone mad some time ago.
Herein lies the entire problem with these kinds of economic approaches; they are based on drawing lines instead of painting pictures. Lines to divide North / South, to divide Private / Public, to divide people in general.
We need conversations around government expenditure. Without it, we are surely doomed to more swings (mostly down). I’m hopeful that new leadership will bring the conversation we’ve all been lacking…
Peace.
