I’m not global economist, but just mentioning such will be met with revulsion among Americans, mainly because they don’t trust our politicians, bankers, or the media. And, it’s not getting any better.
In fact, most of American politicians occupying Washington have no capacity to discuss this complex topic. They can’t even articulate that we’ve committed mass atrocities to Native American Indians and owned slaves. the evidence of each is embedded in our culture.
As Piketty has pointed out, 40 years of Neoliberal policies in Washington has made the rich very rich, wiped out the Middle Class, and made the poor even poorer. Yet, this economic disparity is rarely discussed by the American media which is why there is no trust.
The Mainstream Media is too busy identifying which statues/monuments/iconic figures in America represent racism. Since our country was founded by slave owners and Civil Rights movements didn’t happen until the 1960’s, I’d say most of them. But, we’ll spend months identifying them.
China has a better chance of moving this direction than the USA.
