Well said, Matt. I started an online publication over five years ago to combat the poor journalism coming from our local Gannett bought newspaper. The quality of their paper has only gotten worse. Despite local pressure, they continue publishing a “Busted” section where daily arrests are glorified. It makes our community look like a wrap sheet.

The New York Times and Post are establishment newspapers. They’ve run great ads which has bolstered their subscriptions, but it will be short lived success. The whole “fake news” scam will hit many alternative and independent journalists operating outside the mainstream holding the fraudulent media accountable.

I’m a trending analysis manager, so I’d say the trends will continue to decline for the media industry. The scariest trend I see coming is censorship from Facebook and Google, etc., all supported by our federal government. It’s coming…
