Sacrificing the Party Life…

As you probably already know, we aren’t your average 24 y/o party boys.

There aren’t too many people in their mid-early twenties who would exchange their party lifestyle and dedicate their whole year to a shit load of fitness and focus on raising money for a charity.

There are a few things that’s required to execute a project like this: mental endurance, time, dedication, and somewhat level of fitness.

So what we’re trying to say is we’ve sacrificed ALOT this year.

In our previous years, we were just working everyday jobs then wondering what we’re doing on the weekends i.e festivals, getting completely hammered or some sort of party debauchery.

Nowadays it’s working, training, hustling, and competing.

We still love to party now-and-then. We had a bucks party and a couple weddings this year but other than that, it’s been rather tame.

No time to slag off.

You only get 24 hours in a day which means we have to make the most of what we can.

And it’s not easy.

Especially when it’s just us two.

We are slowly growing a team together between our sponsors and partnerships that have been able to help organise a few things but the majority of things we are doing ourselves.

And can’t forget the amazing people we’ve met along this journey who are willing to help us out.

Obviously our goals of competing in some tough endurance events all year and successfully raising the $20k for charity (fingers crossed we make it) can’t be executed unless we sacrifice the things that’ll hold us back.

However, by the end of the year, we will have grown our personal brand quite well so all this time invested into this project will be worth it.

You probably know about the events we have coming up but the two main ones that’s requiring us to put our full-focus include:

  1. 24 hour treadmill challenge
  2. November Run we’re hosting

That’s right. We’re hosting an event!

We posted something on social media a few weeks back and got a ton of great feedback from our following who’d love to run or help volunteer.

Can’t release too much info about it as we’re still planning phase but it’s definitely looking like around last weekend of November along the beach in GC somewhere…

But we’ll keep you posted once we have a date and location booked :)

Enjoy.

24 Hour Treadmill Challenge:

It’s official, we are running a 24hour treadmill challenge in Justin’s Park, Burleigh on Sept 3–4 from 7am-7am… It’s endurance #29 for 2016 and if you’re wondering why we’re doing this… it’s for 2 reasons. For the physical challenge to see how far we can run in 24 hours and to raise the remaining $6.6k of our $20k fundraiser for cancer research & awareness.

Most appreciated if anyone can come down and support us and spread the word. It’ll be a fun day as we have 8 or 9 marquees around us to cater for everyone as well as radio broadcasting (and hopefully tv too). If you know of any sporting icons/ athletes that’d be keen to run with us for a bit on the spare treadys, let them know about this event!

Follow The Wounded Pelicans’ Journey:

Remember to subscribe and follow us on social media and refer your friends & family. We are trying to grow our following to be as big as possible for what we are doing for cancer awareness and our vision for 2017. It would also mean a lot if you can donate any small amounts to our $20,000 fundraiser as we still have a long way to go… all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
