Boyfriend Tries Skincare Routine

About a month ago, I changed up my skincare routine to a more minimalist one, following the new Korean beauty trend ‘Skip-Care’. Around the same time, I noticed that my boyfriend was facing skin issues, such as dry skin around the nose, and he generally just doesn’t take care of his skin at all. Also, my boyfriend hates the feeling of there being anything on his skin, and shuns the idea of applying skincare products on his face. (I once had to promise a day’s worth of Minecraft time in return for him putting a 15-minute sheet mask.) Thus, I decided to ̶f̶o̶r̶c̶e̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ let him try out my routine together with me to see if there would be any improvement to his skin and, most importantly, if he will adopt the routine or not!

Check out this video to see the routine in action!

*Disclaimer* No boyfriends were harmed in the process.

Results: There hasn’t been many visible changes, but he claims his face feels more moisturised!

Thoughts and feelings:

What do you like or not like about this skincare routine?
Hmm, I don’t like the feeling of there being stuff on my face. It’s like… I can feel it! It’s a bit suffocating at first; I can feel that there’s stuff on my face all the time, and it’s more prominent when I’m making facial expressions. I can feel it in my smile lines leh! It’s so uncomfortable and it gets worse throughout the day somemore. And sometimes I can’t differentiate if my face is moist or oily.

But the good thing is that I think I don’t scratch my face as much because it’s not as itchy. It also feels a bit smoother, like my face usually doesn’t feel this smooth. *touches face*

Will you continue with your skincare routine every day?
I’ll only continue using it if you help me with it every day. It’s too much of a hassle already. It’s like I want to sleep, but I must still put. Actually I also don’t like ‘cos I cannot sleep on my side, if not the products will touch the pillow, but if you help me put then I okay.

“ but if you help me put then I okay”

I think I’d call that a success!

Skincare is definitely important for both men and women, and I think that the barrier that is preventing my boyfriend from continuing the routine is that he isn’t used to applying anything on his face at all. I believe that it takes a bit of time to get used to the routine and to understand the long-term benefits of skincare. If you think your boyfriend needs some of that moisturisin’ or pamperin’, you can definitely give this short routine a try! Just make sure you teach him how to use them, and also give and take a little, like how I applied the products for him instead.

That’s all for today’s post, and don’t forget to check out my routine here and also the products used here!
