Originally founded as a Dutch literary quarterly, Das Mag has since then expanded its activities to include festivals (in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin and London), a summer camp for young writing talent and a successful publishing house.
The original Dutch magazine Das Magazin has a circulation of 6,000 and contains the country’s best short stories, poems and essays. The magazine’s design and unique illustrations are provided by Studio Vruchtvlees, which won them the European Design Award (twice!) and a Red Dot Award.
In 2015 Das Mag took on its biggest adventure so far: starting up a publishing house. The first three books were published with the help and financial support of 3,000 founders. One of these books was the remarkable debut novel by Lize Spit — an instant bestseller with nothing but good reviews. Picador will soon publish the English translation of The Melting and translation rights to another ten countries have been sold.
