Andela Boot Camp — Day II

Today marks the second day of the Andela boot camp.

Even though am working remotely at home, things are really moving fast; I can hardly feel the so called ‘home feel’.

The day began with a small set back . It so happened that we could not submit the programming labs solutions due to some unknown technical hitches. Up until midday, I was still worried. Fortunately, the situation was rectified later in the afternoon.

The most interesting activity that engaged me today was exploring the jungle that is HTTP and web services. The curriculum actually required us to make a console application that consumes a public API. I have always found interacting with networks fascinating, so this challenge was more than welcome. After considering a bunch of options, such as getting data from social media, ATOM feeds and the like, I settled on Open Weather Map , because the weather really matters. Have a look at my console application here.

Looking at the curriculum, I can see even bigger and better challenges ahead. Tomorrow, I’ll be here to talk to you again. See you then.
