Being proud of one’s own team is one thing, but having an external party testifying good things about it is something else.
On September 19, Tokoin held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Tokoin Indonesia’s Telegram channel featuring one of our advisors, HongZhuang Lim. He is also the CEO of ShuttleOne, one of Tokoin’s partners. At first, it was aimed to be a follow-up of TOKO token addition on ShuttleOne Wallet, but it ended up as a sharing moment on why Zhuang believed in Tokoin.
There’s Something Special About the Team
“My team and I felt that the Tokoin team is highly sincere. They have a heart for the people of Indonesia, especially MSMEs. When most just talk only and no action, they were doing this project even with a highly limited budget. They’re good people, they always try their best with maximum effort,” said Zhuang about his first meeting with Tokoin in Singapore on October 2018, the time when Tokoin team shared their vision and their plans of IEO for 2019. The IEO itself is now something that has been accomplished just last month.
As an entrepreneur himself, Zhuang appreciate these values that the Tokoin team and founders hold onto. “One thing the Tokoin team and us have in common. We are not superstars. We are not from Facebook, Harvard, or MIT. But we have a vision, and we have great investors with us,” he continued.
Tokoin’s Admirable Persistence
Zhuang shared about one of his stays in Jakarta, where he was accompanied by the COO of Tokoin, Eddy Christian Ng. “He shared with me his personal journey, the failures, and it touched me. It showed me how hard it is for startups to grow, especially in the starting phase. But he also shared, he’s not giving up,” said Zhuang openly. Not only the journey of Tokoin touched Zhuang, but it also opened his eyes about how hard it is for startups in Indonesia to grow. Tokoin’s persistence, despite the hardships, is definitely something to be proud of.
The Tokoin team is not ashamed to share the entirety of our journey, even our failures, because we believe that learning from our past failures is one of the keys that have brought us to where we are right now… and for Tokoin, this is just the beginning of a better journey ahead. Not just for Tokoin, but for MSMEs and for a greater economy.
