But where/how do you draw the line? How do ally for the sake of conflict or “free trade agreement” prevention, for instance, without legitimizing the racism and misogyny? We’ve had this same game in Germany when demonstrations against imperialist wars in the Middle East were organized by left-wingers, drew right-wingers as well, and were used as exhibit A for “they’re just anti-american racists” by the MSM.
If you add a disclaimer everywhere, pointing out that no, you’re not condoning all policies of the right-wingers you temporarily ally with, the (typically already complex) left-wing message becomes even harder to communicate.
And finally: for the extreme center, Clinton or Macron are the “lesser evil” and we rightly deny this. How do you not promote the “anti-establishment right” as “lesser evil”, knowing about the pitfalls of lesser-evilism?
