The rentier culture

In philosophy, there is the concept of how suffering engenders improvement in all related fields. As Nietzsche says,’That which does not kill us makes us stronger’. In Nigeria, it’s as though ‘ That which does not kill us makes us more entitled’. Everyone keeps talking of their share of the National cake.

The truth is we all, Nigerians or not deserve nothing. The ‘rentier culture’ should be replaced with a self-development culture. Every Nigerian must personally use the struggles of being born as a Nigerian, to push the fight and drive of becoming successful. That’s the mentality I think we need.

A good read by Cheta Nweze.
