Wi-Fi 7: Faster Speeds and Lower Lag Coming to Apple World
A new Wi-Fi version called Wi-Fi 7 was launched recently. This next-generation standard from the Wi-Fi Alliance promises much lower delay times and way higher data speeds. Those improvements make Wi-Fi 7 perfect for virtual reality headsets and watching videos in super sharp 8K quality. Let’s break down what’s new with Wi-Fi 7 and when those upgrades might reach iPhones, iPads and Macs.
Wi-Fi 7 can transfer files up to five times faster than the current Wi-Fi 6E. It also uses wider radio channels to avoid congestion issues. New multi-link technology sends and receives information simultaneously over multiple frequencies. Meanwhile, 4K Quad Amp technology packs in more data with each transmission. All that means zippier downloads, quicker gameplay and smoother mixed reality without lag.
Analysts believe Apple will bring Wi-Fi 7 to iPhones first. The high-end iPhone 16 Pro models expected later this year may get this upgraded wireless. Then future iPads and Macs will likely adopt the faster connectivity too. No doubt Wi-Fi 7 would supercharge a next-gen Apple VR headset.
While Wi-Fi 7 routers just started arriving, big wireless speeds and reduced latency are coming soon to Apple’s world of iPhone, iPad and Mac thanks to the powerful new Wi-Fi 7 standard. Faster, lower-lag networking is on the horizon!
