Petersfield Square was packed with crowds on Sunday morning showing their respects to the towns’ brave armed forces.

This weekend’s remembrance service marked a century since the end of the First World War and when the guns finally stopped.

In one of the biggest turnouts ever the event began in the square with a welcome and introduction from the Vicar of St Peter’s Church, the Rev Canon Will Hughes.

A parade of veterans, cadets, scouts and guides then made its way down the High Street to the War Memorial where the Roll of Honour, listing all those from Petersfield who have died in wars since 1914 was read out.

On the eleventh hour, the town fell silent for two minutes to remember the 129 brave Petersfield servicemen who gave their lives in service of their country. Wreaths were then laid as a final show of respect.
