by Aaron Brennt Eusebio

The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers notched their third victory against the San Beda Red Lions, 25–21, 25–20, 23–25, 25–22, in the 2017 PVL Collegiate Conferece at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan Wednesday.

Leading by only one in the fourth set, 21–20, UST’s Ty Carodan scored the last four points, 25–22.

“On track kami in terms sa passing and serving although erratic siya. Nagagalit pa rin ako ng kaunti kasi nag-i-easy serve kasi sila sa end game, pinapaalis ko yun,” Tiger Spikers head coach Odjie Mamon said.

The Red Lion snatched the third set after an error by rookie Joshua Umandal, 25–23.

UST committed 42 errors but tallied 55 attack points and 10 block points.

Umandal paced UST with 17 points while Arnold Bautista and Carodan combined for 30 markers.

Mark Enciso led San Beda with 14 points.

UST improved to 3–3 win-loss record and will face the CSB Blazers on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the same venue.
