This is an interesting question that has a very simple and straight forward answer. So let’s explain it.
Basically a lot of people know China as a huge country, with big population and massive goods production for brands that we can buy around the world. At this point you are probably remembering the statement: “made in China”. In many cases this is creating a misleading perception and incomplete understanding of their economy.
Digging in
Let’s take Huawei as an interesting case. During our China trip I’ve already visited Huawei Shenzhen and Shanghai offices so I can share some insights with you.
Huawei is an important leading ICT solution provider. Their core business is the production and development of important components that are needed for ultra-fast internet infrastructure development. Huawei was founded in 1987 and since then they are doing really great things.
Today, they have more than 150.000 employees with 150+ nationalities worldwide, 70.000 of them are engaged in R&D, 30.000+ of them are non-Chinese employees, they have 15 regional Head Quarters around the world, and more. They are huge and successful.
Is their success consequence of constant strive for innovation, great talent attraction and good strategy execution? What do you think?
If we consider everything they do and the challenges they are addressing we can make a clear conclusion. The “made in China” company is not a regular one, it’s a hi-tech one! And they are making a huge contribution to China economy with great impact on the world.

Conclusion
Huawei is for sure not the only hi-tech company in China, but it is definitely developing great solutions that are impacting our lives for the last 20 years.
With great people oriented mission — enabling internet communication for everyone, everywhere with ultra fast speed, Huawei is already creating a lasting impact and in the future we can expect even greater things to happen!
