All Day I Dream of New York City

Sunday 18th of June — Brooklyn — New York City
Waking up is a little difficult. The hungover is heavy. But the sun is shining! It’s 30°C degres and full on summer. What a delicious pleasure!
Avocado toasts at Little Skips are the cure I need. A freshly squeezed OJ finishes the job. My headache is dispersed like dust in the wind.
We then head to The Well for the All Day I Dream summer season opening, and our awaited rendez-vous with Lee Burridge and his crew. Day dreaming in the making.
The wooden decor at the open air venue is inspired by Japanese temples. Large pieces of multi-color cloth are hung high above for shade. They move and twirl in the wind. The colours are purple, red, blue and fuschia. Chinese lanterns dangle gently with the afternoon breeze.
Gorje Hewek & Izhevski are at the decks first. Their sound is light and clear. Joyful and uplifting. A ideal way to start the day. We started dancing the minute we got there. Music game: on point.
Perfect afternoon delight.
We meet some burners that were at the vyvn party the day before. The outfits are fabulous. Glitter, pearls, and sequins. Leather, cotton and silk. I am equally amazed by the venue and by the revellers.
Brooklyn is definitely a place with a strong creative urge. The refined costumes and the raw energy flowing through the crowd are some of the most obvious cues. The music catalyses this prolific process.
At one point, a cloud passes by the sun, shielding us from its powerful rays. But as the mighty star fights back to shine through, sublime silver linings start appearing. Mother Nature’s performance gives us a pause for a hot second. Time is suspended.

I am getting excited with the upcoming set of Lee Burridge. I am ready. Beer and water, the ravers combo, fuel my body keeping me afloat.
We move closer to the stage. The crowd gets denser. Anticipation is high. Expectations too.
LB’s music is like a clear stream of water flowing down a mountain. Pure and shiny and refreshing. The complexity of the set is enticing. I am actively listening. Im trying to compare and contrast this set with the one I heard at Pink Mammoth, the legendary camp of Black Rock City, on sunday afternoon right before the Temple Burn. But my memory is somewhat hazy…
At one point, I borrow a chinese umbrella from a fellow dreamer. I am instructed to play with it as much as I please and then to put it back in the bag.
Nightfall. the party is peaking and the place is bumping. I sense this now familiar feeling of unity with the crowd. Individual souls converging to the same place. This pure feeling of togertherness is exquisitely sweet. Combined with an hypnotyzing set, I am drifting to a state of bliss.
After a timeless period of out of body experience the music suddendly stops. I crash heavily back to the surface of planet earth. This moment of dreaming is over for now. Time to cool down and get ready for more.
Till next time.
