Donald Trump claims that China exercises unfair trade practices, and is a thief of the United States’ intellectual properties.
In China, there is rumor circulating that the United States is trying the restrain their economic rise.
Currently, China and the United States are both the top two economies in the world. Based on 2020 statistics, the United States is number 1 — over $23,000 trillion GDP. China comes in at over $15,000 trillion GDP. Japan is number 3 — just over $5,000 trillion GDP.
According to 2018 statistics from ustr.gov, The United States imports $539.5 billion in goods. China imports $120.3 billion of United states goods.
World Leaders and supporters label the United states and China as “the world’s most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century” (second paragraph).
The Trade War has been in effect during the Trump administration since January of 2018. And, if you think the taxes on your favorite goods are bad now, just wait until December 15, 2019.
Upcoming tariffs are expected to weigh heavily on finished goods versus on just parts for manufacturing other goods.
If you wait too late to buy up the following items before the Tariffs hit, you will be looking at paying 15% Tarriffs on over $155 billion worth of China imported goods. Rumors have circulated that 15% can go up to 30.
