One other core skill that I think is missing, under UX, is the ability to create and clearly express a holistic view (or “vision”) of the customer/user experience. I find that a lot of work is done on individual features, optimizations, etc, without considering the interplay with other elements (within both product and marketing) of the experience. Also, the ability to envision and describe the big picture is important to motivate the team, to communicate with stakeholders, and to have a clear rationale for saying No to lots of requests.
