Excellent take on many issues that cause housing to be expensive. However, what does forcing folks, including middle class homeowners, small builders to use union workers as an exchange to skip rules and procedures that are ridiculous to begin with. The hidden language of your bill does exact this.
This smells, and looks like legalized extortion by unions. “You pay us, and we’ll make sure you don’t have to follow some of these silly rules. Otherwise, it will be difficult.”
We all want workers to be paid a fair wage, to be treated well, be safe. But I’m not sure we want to enrich union bosses, enpower their political toadies in the name of affordable housing.
If your goal is to truly create more affordable housing. Go after excessive fees, redundant and overlapping rules, NIMBY zoning that created walled gardens. I do not think these have anything to do with padding the pockets of union bosses and their subservient political buddies.
