You are conflating two unrelated issues. The Electoral College does not specify how a candidate(s) wins in a state — that’s what the states do. If you like ranked choice voting so much, get it enacted in your state. There’s nothing stopping you. If it works out well, other states will copy it.

You are actually making a great case for the Electoral College because the EC enables states to experiment with different ways to do things and to see how it works out in practice. It’s 2016 and the founders design of the Electoral College is still BRILLIANT!
