Common Core Math is Not the Enemy

as a father of a second grader in Florida using Common Core as a standard, I can relate to both sides of the common core argument. I am lucky my daughter hasnt been taught the other way of doing math, so there is no objection or roadbloack from learning the new way. Our school has made it a point of emphasis that we as parents learn the common core basics rather than fight it. I don’t fully understand common core but I know enough to know how aggravating it must be for anyone that has learned the old way and is now being forced to learn a new way. My advice is to stay out of the way and let the teachers teach. If your child struggles maybe that is a good thing. It is just another way of getting to the same result.
