What I would like to know—never having felt the compulsion myself—is what compels the writer of memoir to bare her soul to unknown readers. Or does she, really? Is the process of strategy and selection in the nature of a matador’s cloak? Having read Walk Away and now your Medium primer on the writing of memoir I have to wonder: What aren’t you telling your readers, Michelle?
