I am a white man, privileged and never once having faced explicit or implicit hate for being born as I was. I often feel that I can intellectually or even emotionally understand the experience of being black. I certainly cannot begin to understand the motives that drive people to such murderous hatred. But I also acknowledge that neither can I ever fully understand what is is to be the target. Keep writing. In several more centuries perhaps we’ll be a more enlightened species.
