What a great story, in depth and explaining his work with minimal technical language. Often overlooked in the history of human evolutionary genetics is the pioneering work of Victor McKusick and his most important work “Mendelian Inheritance in Man.” McKusick was primarily interested in the genetics of disease, especially in inbred populations. I am curious to know how much influence McKusick’s work had on Cavalier-Sforza and others.

I am not a geneticist, but I grew up around McKusick’s lab, where my mother was a technical writer.
