The Gear S, another sign that Samsung and Google are arguing, but who is going to Win?
Hint: Apple!
Its been long coming now, its been the subject of great speculation, Tim Cook has even hinted about it from time to time. Apple is going to unveil the mighty iWatch(name subject to change) on September 9th.
This forces companies like Samsung and LG rushing to announce their own iterations of the smartwatch before Apple steals all the limelight. LG has unveiled its new stylish G Watch R and Samsung its Curved Gear S (Solo)( Korean companies need to rethink their naming strategy).
before Apple steals all the limelight
Both Watches look great (well as good as a Samsung Watch can look like!) and have their own unique features. LG has a full circled display (for which they seem to be very proud of), while the Curved Gear S has its own 3G connection and as the name implies has a curved screen, albeit square.
These are all steps in the right direction but what Samsung doesn't seem to understand is that it wont be able to built a worthy iWatch rival without Google. Back in June the search giant had unveiled to the world the greatly anticipated Android Wear, an iteration of Google Now for your wrist. This will undoubtedly be the biggest competition apple will face in the smartwatch market. But it seems Samsung has its own plans for conquering the wrist. Releasing it’s best smartwatch to date, on the eve of Apple’s announcement, the Gear S instead of packing Android Wear it packs Tizen.
It seems Samsung has its own plans for conquering the wrist.
Its no secret that the Korean company has been working on its own android replacement for a few years now and while Samsung holds more than 60% of the global android market, Google isnt going to make it easy for them.
These disputes have been around for a long time now, but they haven't stopped Google from beating Apple at its own game, holding 80% of the smartphone market and in the process making Samsung the world's number 1 phone manufacturer.
But all these are about to change. Apple is gearing up for its most exciting hardware lineup since Steve Job’s death. Its stock is at the highest its ever been , a highly anticipated iWatch is about to be unveiled and with its three new iphones, its about to go head to head with Android’s main selling point, screen size.
its about to go head to head with Android’s main selling point
It seems to me that Samsung has picked the wrong time to try to run away from home, because if it and Google don't get their heads in the game very soon,
Apple will win.
