2015: Year In Review
2015 was a year both of transition and groundwork. I came into it, honestly, pessimistic and with few hopes other than that I might get a bigger TV at some point. Still, the people I met, and the work I achieved in these last twelve months have changed everything. At this, the tail end of of the year, I find myself with more love and more power in my life than ever.
But also something bad happened yesterday so that’s all stupid now and 2015 was a garbage heap.
…
January 2015 kicked off with both my first piece in The New Yorker and my freakin’ wedding. Never before, in the space of a week, did I feel more like I belonged within and deserved the life I have worked so hard to build.
But then that one bad thing happened yesterday and now these precious memories are but ashes in the swollen mouth of a rotting horse.
Looking into the spring, I landed a dream job contributing to one of my favourite comedy institutions on earth, developed long-lasting friendships with people that, to this day, am astounded have the capacity to both live their perfect lives, and allow me into those lives as well.
Then I got sad on monday so now they can go to hell.
Some other things that happened this year, now ruined by the one bad thing that lasted three minutes and will probably resolve itself, eventually improving my life in the long-term.
I moved to the USA permanently and began to finally build the life I knew I wanted after years of cognitive limbo. *makes jerk-off motion*
I got my first full-time writing job, having negotiated my salary as if I knew what the hell I was doing. *gif of someone falling into a manhole*
I had the best year of my dumbass life. It SUCKED.
