I wonder about that.

Aura Wilming, You make excellent points and certainly the producers of the show embraced much of the ethos and perspective of what you say. I suppose it comes down to the charm and vigor of the cast and their interactions. I have always liked a blend of humor and action. One of my favorite movies is the 1968 classic “Support Your Local Sheriff.” It starred James Garner as the reluctant and self-effacing hero who saves the town from its own excesses as embodied by a marauding and menacing local gang led by a father and reckless and violent sons. He had a great sense of humor and he was fast with his gun and quick to laugh at himself. I suppose that is why the Matt Smith “Doctor” was so appealing. And the story lines with River Song are absolutely first-rate writing and performances. I am sure that people who enjoy darker sides of fantasy are riveted by the series as it was produced with Mr. Capaldi and I imagine I would be counted among them if I were of a different bent. I hope you know that I admire especially your writing as English is the most demanding and complex language in many ways in the world. It is rewarding and confusing and vexing and lustrous. When I read a tale by Lizella Prescott I am often reminded of the great treasure we have in the English language. I guess the Doctor Who series will take another turn whenever it returns to the United States. Cheers.
