I used to be part of a global community
Tamyka Bell

If this proliferation of paywalls and pay to read continues I do not know how Medium will continue as an open community. It is becoming the 2017 Internet equivalent of the slew of literary journals I used to read at Drury University library circa 1978 to 1981. It will be impossible to discover new writers at all. I and many do not have the resources to subscribe to multiple publications. But it is expensive to be poor as the old saw goes and part of that expense is missing out on literature of all kinds. But I can’t change a solution that apparently is rapidly being embraced.
