Jules, You are a touching and frank writer. that two people so dissimilar could embrace the love inherent in “Lost in Translation” speaks to its true stature as a flawed, minor masterpiece. god, when i watch it again I may have to lay out two walks for Bill and Scarlett to supplant the hideous apartment scene. So extraneous and such a lost opportunity. Perhaps Ms Coppola was too young to see the loving dyanmic generated by Bill and partially grapsped by Scarlett. and I say flawed, minor masterpiece with the highest regard. Any ideas on one of the walks ? i remember a walk i had with a lovely soprano back in fall of 1984. I acted strongly on my attraction to her . she was taken aback but there was a real connection in that moment on that evening stroll.
