This is Best Keyboard for Your iPad

You have an iPad because you want to enjoy and do cool stuff, even when you’re not chained to a desk. But it turns out words are another pretty important invention for getting things done, and it stinks to crank out lots of them words on a touchscreen. You need a physical keyboard.

This is the best: The Logitech Keys-to-Go.

The magical Logitech Keys-to-Go.

It’s insanely thin and the perfect size for your hands, messenger bag, or airline tray. It’s super light, so you don’t have to think twice about bringing it along. And it has a solid typing feel that’s at least as good as a modern MacBook’s. It also has handy iPad-specific shortcut keys you’ll use all the time, so it’s actually more efficient than than Apple’s own keyboard for the iPad Pro, which costs three times as much (and only works with the iPad Pro). Logitech did their design homework.

Want to get real work done on a plane without lugging around a clunky laptop? This is how you do it.

Oh, and it’s separate from your cover: so you can also use the best iPad cover for you, without the compromises of a combination keyboard-cover. Marketing folks call those “smart covers”: But how smart is it to buy a svelte iPad and bolt the the extra weight of a keyboard to it, weight you’ll feel whenever you’re holding it? And you won’t have to toss this accessory when you upgrade your tablet, like would with a keyboard cover: the Keys-to-Go works with any iOS device (you can even pair it with your iPhone for the world’s most ultraportable novel-writing machine).

I use this personally with my iPad Mini 4. The combination is the best airplane tray -sized productivity device ever devised. It feels like 90% of the productivity of an iPad Pro — with 100% less wondering about whether you should bring it with you on a trip: The entire package takes up less room in your bag than a paperback.

Any downsides? You’ll have to charge the keyboard once every month or three (it sips power, and charges quickly with a standard micro USB cable). And it does take maybe 20 minutes of typing to get used to the super thin keys. The feel is similar to the keyboard on Apple’s latest MacBook, which also has ultra-thin keys. Oh, and while it provides some tactile feedback, it’s silent — so you won’t be able to passive-aggressively annoy co-workers with the clicky-clack of keys on this one. Bummer.

But otherwise? The Keys-t0-Go are the keys to get.

Ok, one more downside: Choices! You can get it in black, red, or teal blue.
