Seth, One of your main messages is to be different, unique, don’t try to memorize what a thousand or million other people know. Lynda has a very good product line and can enable people to express their innovation through knowing how to use web development or other digital tools, but I’m guessing most people learn those tools to try to simply get employed in the types of jobs you warn against — replacable skills that can be outsourced for lower cost.
Lynda.com should try to teach more about how to leverage digital tools for innovation rather than how to operate them. People see web development or UX or similar skills as sure stable employment, but it’s not that simple. They’re still a commodity.
By the way, I’m a big fan of your work. People should read one of your books before taking a Lynda or similar course; it would give them context about what they’re learning, help them apply it better.
