National Security Cinema — Tom Secker and Matt Alford on PPR

Good friend Pearse Redmond invited Matt and I on his radio show to talk about our new book National Security Cinema: The Shocking New Evidence of Government Control in Hollywood. We discussed the new evidence that provoked us into writing this book, looked at some of the case studies including Contact and Hotel Rwanda, and various examples of how the CIA and the DOD have rewritten film and TV scripts for political reasons. We hone in on the technique of demilitarisation — where the Pentagon cannot eliminate a bit of dialogue or character or plot point that it dislikes and so they ‘civilianise’ the troublesome element of the movie. This is a wide-ranging overview of the book and what you can expect when you buy it.
