A few years ago I went on a masturdate weekend trip to Detroit. Had an amazing weekend, ate great food, drank some great beers and was able to meet lots of great people. Some of whom I am still in contact with. By going alone I was more open to meeting new people. Like so many things the first experience was the most memorable.
