This is fascinating as a Canadian with parents from completely different cultures. My mother is a catholic Pakistani and a collectivist, whereas my father is a protestant Canadian of British and Scottish heritage and an individualist. The difference in how often each of them call me is very different. Furthermore, family communication on both sides is polar opposites. My mom's side is very family-oriented with large frequent gatherings being common, whereas my fathers side is very individualistic and large gatherings rarely happening.
