Reader Question: What’s the biggest challenge novelists face when switching to screenwriting?
Scott Myers

I’m going the other direction, from writing spec screenplays to novels. I’m finding that the focus on structure in screenplay is very helpful when organizing a novel. I’m lucky that present tense in fiction is now popular enough, because after having written screenplays it’s the only tense I find to be natural to write. I’ll be pushing that a bit by also writing in objective, aka cinematic, point of view.
