The journalist Sebastian Junger has spoken about the challenge of fostering inclusion, connection and unity of purpose in a fragmented society. He’s talked about how war and natural disasters can bring people together in ways other phenomena can’t. Yet.
But I like hearing that other countries are giving glimpses of what news could be, besides negative propaganda that keeps us afraid and untrusting of each other.
More balanced, socially responsible coverage could provide a wider and more accurate lens through which we absorb information and respond to the world.
