Our Self- “Righteousness”

Or Rebellion Against It

Whether it is self-righteousness in the form of saying to God, “I have my own righteousness. And by my own means, I do whatever seems right, and feels right to me” ;

Or

Whether it is self righteousness in the form of legalism, which says to God, “I have my own righteousness according to the law” ;

Both forms are self-righteousness, and are therefore missing the the simple mark, in that they are ways of trying to provide and perform what only God can do…

Both forms of self-righteousness are essentially rebellion, and both are arrogance. Both are ineffectual in bringing about true righteousness, which is from God’s heart of love, for, in, and through us…
