Tonight Looks Good on You…

(Journal post 18/300)

Date night one of 12 in 2016 was a success in Omaha last night with the We Were Here Tour from Jason Aldean at CenturyLink Center Omaha.

Aldean — who needs to put out some new music — was joined by up and coming act A Thousand Horses and the guy the girls love, Thomas Rhett.

A Thousand Horses

A Thousand Horses opened the show with a high energy 30 minute set that included hit songs, “Smoke” and “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial.”

If you like The Black Crowes in the 1990s, you be a fan of this band. In fact, no sooner than I said that last night, they played a excellent cover of Hard To Handle.

Complete with some female back-up singers, A Thousand Horses put on a pretty good show. A perfect warm up for this tour.

Thomas Rhett

First, I am a big fan. We saw Rhett open this show for Aldean in 2013 when he first hit it big with “Beer With Jesus” and was on tour with Aldean and Jake Owen.

But, Rhett’s in a tough spot on this tour with Aldean. His fans want his hits and he is in the middle of trying to promote his new album, Tangled Up.

So, the crowd last night, got more of Thomas’ new sound which is leaning a little toward the pop side with his new single ‘T-Shirt’ and the title track ‘Tangled Up’.

‘T-Shirt’ is an upbeat follow up to his current number one hit ‘Die A Happy Man’ and it could go that far up the charts as well.

Rhett is near the spot where he needs to be a headliner for a few of his shows so fan can get the best of both worlds with his set. The 45 minutes limits him.

Jason Aldean

Aldean’s high-energy set on the ‘We Were Here’ tour was as good as advertised. And, if you missed some of Aldean’s first hits when he was on the Night Train tour, you got them all last night.

Aldean mixed up his set with new and old last night, giving the crowd some of his first hits like ‘Hicktown’, ‘Johnny Cash’ and ‘Amarillo Sky.’

If you love Aldean, you loved the set, simple as that. Nearly every single hit he has owned was on display last night.

Mixed with his new hits ‘We Were Here’, ‘Burnin it Down’ and ‘Tonight Looks Good on You’ this tour is sure to be a hit for Aldean fans across the nation.

The best part of my night? My date, of course.
