Sometimes folks want to be informed when the purpose is to entertain. To do more than one elements in one work really takes skill for the creator. The observer and processor of the info needs an even greater skill to not get too caught up in what a work is “supposed” to do or “should” be. “Levees” informed. And it was obvious. Maybe Chi-Raq was not as obvious.

Moviegoers pre-judge like a mug. Haters are gonna hate. Fans are gonna fan:-). We look for evidence to support our prejudices. That’s why there must be balance. Your piece was needed as much as the other reviews.

You chose to focus on the deeper elements of the movie because you are a reviewer AND culturally similar to the creator. That is hard. for those who have not honed their critical eye or who are unable to empathize.

Anyway, the conversation has sparked my interest. Maybe I’ll even watch the movie.
