About Tony Buzbee- Houston, Texas based Attorney
Tony Buzbee has been practicing law in Texas for over twenty years. Tony had received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology during his undergraduate at Texas A&M University. During Tony’s time in school, he was a member of the Navy ROTC program, leading Tony to join the United States Marine Corps upon graduation.
Tony had spent a lot of time overseas in dangerous places while with the Marine Corps, including countries within the Persian Gulf and in African countries like Somalia. He was an infantry officer that commanded various Marine special operation capable units. Tony advanced in his career with the Marines when he was selected to become a Reconnaissance officer in the First Marine Regiment. He had also received several awards including honor graduate from Navy Dive School and Amphibious Reconnaissance Course during this time. By the end of his service, Tony Buzbee had achieved the rank of captain and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal.
Now as a civilian, Tony Buzbee applied and was accepted to the University of Houston Law Center. In law school, Tony became the Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review, was elected as Class Captain, won both the State and Regional Mock Trial champion titles, and managed to graduate with summa cum laude.
Tony started his career working for a federal district judge as an attorney in the Southern District of Texas. He then moved on to be hired as an associate attorney by Susman Godfrey LLP. In 1999, Tony Buzbee started his own firm and is recognized as one of the most successful and one of the most talented lawyers not just in Texas, but in the United States. Tony has become a successful attorney by using principles he learned during his time as a Marine. Now he leads more than fifty employees in two offices and ten lawyers.
Tony has a very busy career but he still devotes his time to his community by serving on a number of boards. He serves as a Regent for the Texas A&M University System and was honored by the school naming their Buzbee Leadership Learning Center after him. Tony Buzbee has also been profiled in numerous magazines, including the New York Times Magazine and Texas Monthly. Tony was named one of the top fifty “Premier” Plaintiff’s firms in the United States by the National Law Journal. Tony has represented the Governor of Texas, Jimmy Buffett, several Mexican states, the State of Louisiana, and the Basque Country in Spain.
Tony Buzbee’s time in the Marine Corps had sparked an interest in traveling. The Marine Corps had taken him to places such as Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and more. Now, Tony has traveled across the globe and employees local guides to provide him with access to the quintessential foods and activities of the locals. Some of his fondest memories are of dog sledding with his son in Greenland, landing a helicopter on a glacier in Alaska, bungee jumping with his kids in New Zealand, and canyoning in Tasmania with his brother.
