See I always saw being born as a woman as something inherently physiological and biological. A woman-born-as-a-woman is born with a vagina, mammary glands and other female sex organs, while a trans-woman is not. A trans-woman can adopt the gender identity of a woman-born-as-a-woman and IMO society should definitely reinforce and support trans-women in doing so by treating them as women and even supplementing the medical treatments required to transition. However, although they may share the same gender identity, they do not share the same physiological identity. This is why we need more doctors specially trained gynecologist and urologists to treat trans-women going through transition (Ideally the medical field will create a whole separate designation and medical specialty for treating transitioning trans-women and trans-men).
But I still believe that trans-women are fighting for rights and protections that are not exactly the same as the rights and protections that feminists are fighting for. Specifically, one of the rights trans-women are fighting for is the right to be treated by society as women-born-as-women, which is not a right that feminists are fighting for.
