The U.S. Need Immigration Reform Now More than Ever!

Latino’s and people of color are marginalized very blatantly in our society. In an effort to create equal standing for everyone, the question then becomes whether citizenship should become available for all Latino immigrants? Citizenship affects much more than having access to public services. There are many laws being enacted such as the Voter ID law which prevents certain groups of immigrants including many Latino’s from voting. The people who create and enforce these laws are using very circular reasoning to keep Latino’s trapped in an endless cycle with no opportunity to escape. Especial now, with the outcome of the presidential election everyone has to fight harder to obtain equality.

Many supporters of this who believe it is only fair to have equal rights for all Latino’s. Apart from being able to obtain equal access to healthcare, education, and much more there needs to be some easier way to obtain citizenship in this country. The easiest solution to this problem is to have universal U.S. citizenship request through which all Latino immigrants are granted citizenship if they meet basic standards, and are contributing to our country in a positive way. Latino’s are very much still treated as second hand citizens, and it’s about time for that to change.

Some believe that immigrants, in particular Hispanics should not be allowed the luxury of coming in and out of our country because they are taking advantage of the United States. Anti-immigration policy makers claim to be on the side of the American worker, because immigrants are stealing our work. However, the jobs immigrant’s especially illegal immigrants can get are jobs that nobody else wants to do. In actuality immigrants our helping us more than hurting us in that sense. Many also worry about our national security due to all the madness that has been occurring recently all over the world. Its true that, security is a valid thing to worry about, but we have been proved wrong once before and will be proved wrong again. The common belief is that Muslim terrorists will work their way through our open borders, but the FBI just recently released a statement that said 94% of terrorist attacks in the U.S. are by Non-Muslims. The people of America don’t need to throw caution to the wind, but keep an open mind and heart. Theirs is ways of implementing safe citizenship guarantees and not have to worry about our national security.

I believe that there should be equal access to public services and the right to vote, and even more so citizenship. I don’t see the point in trying to punish people for wanting to create a better life for future generations of their families. I think this is the best course of action for our country to take in such a confusing time, when everyone is still reeling about the potential effects of the Trump winning the election. Now more than ever we have to stand united, and stand by our immigrants in our country to protect their rights, especially in this time of extreme need.

If you don’t believe me take a look for yourself.
