The End of the Internet Dream?

Fantastic speech! The simple truth is that focus is rapidly shifting from the people who use the Internet to the entities that provide the Internet. To “provide” the Internet no longer means to implement and manage various infrastructures like transmission lines and routers. Instead, it’s increasingly thought of with a Nanny-state frame of mind in which the People look to the Government and Corporations for provisions. Provision of security, privacy, tastefulness, tact, decency, and much more.

We have fought long and hard to get where we are today. The endless hours of study and work that have gone into some of the amazing advances of the last decade alone are surely enough to warrant some legitimate consideration of what we must do to protect the fruits of our labor from the abuses of big vs. small.
