We often hear people say “that’s the tip of the iceberg”. Here I will explain The Iceberg Effect Theory Explained — 2021.

The Iceberg Effect Theory Explained — 2021

An iceberg is formed when chunks of ice calve, or break off from a glacier.

The analogy is that all we see is the tip of the iceberg in the water, it is oblivious to what lies beneath.

False beliefs

At first glance all that is seen is a piece of ice in the water, it is not thought of how that ice got there of what is keeping it in position.

It may be wishful thinking, but there is more to an iceberg than first thought.

If we compare it to business.

To start a business as a restaurant you may think that all you need is a great cook and great food. Then a restaurant in order the serve the food.

In theory that’s it, once that is all in place your restaurant business will be fantastic. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Other factors that will need to be considered -

  • Insurance
  • Health and Safety
  • Hygiene
  • Menus
  • Waiters
  • Suppliers
  • Customers
  • Advertising

All the important factors of a business that help it run like clockwork.

My Experience Of The Iceberg Effect.

When looking to start a business it does become very exciting. Its a new chapter in your life.

Obviously I looked into the business idea and found it fascinating of how the business plan was so simple. The business which was chosen was Affiliate Marketing.

Affiliate Marketing business plan is relatively simple. Find a product and promote it to other people, each customer you acquire for that business you will be awarded with a commission.

How simple is that?

The simple but effective business plan captured my attention. It was a business which I thought couldn’t fail.

Finding Out That Was The Tip Of The Iceberg.

I began to watch youtube videos and read plenty of blogs from other affiliate marketers who were already successful in the industry.

They all said the same. Its a was a simple business model.

  • Find a product to promote
  • Become an affiliate for that product
  • Promote to customers

After a few weeks of getting a product that was paying high commissions in front of people. I slowly began to figure out it wasn’t as easy as it looked.

Not everyone is interested in the product I was promoting. Then those who showed the slightest piece of interest and asked questions — I didn’t know what to say?

The Bigger Picture

Although affiliate marketing is actually a simple business model, simple doesn’t mean easy!

There is a lot more involved to be able to be successful with affiliate marketing online.

For example:

Where to find customers who will be interested in the product? Not everyone will be interested in the product that is on offer.

There is a way in which you find those customers. Also not everyone will purchase from the first sight.

Setting up an email auto responder. An email auto responder will enable you to be able to grow lists of customers who have shown interest in the product.

The human brain is naturally inquisitive

Once you have put in the work to find the ideal customer adding them to an email list where you are able to help grow a relationship with your customers.

Knowing your product. This will be a huge advantage when you are asked questions on the product. If you think of it like a cars salesman. Before you purchase a car you would like to know just what it can do.

So knowing your product inside out will benefit you when talking to customers.

Having a landing page in place. When a customers meets you for the first time they are not likely to buy anything from you. A simple way to build a relationship with the customer is to ad them to an email list.

This is acquired through a landing page. Which is the first port of action for a customer coming into your business.

Having a home hub. When building a business online you will be producing valuable content for you customers to get to know you.

Weather it be through -

  • Blogging
  • Video channel
  • Podcast
  • Website
  • Newsletters

There should always be a place you direct your customers back to in order to find out more.

The Solution to The Iceberg Effect Theory Explained — 2021

If I was to begin all over again with building a business with affiliate marketing, there would be a number of things I would do differently.

I’m not saying that I regret anything I have done or the lessons I have learnt along the way, because it has all got me to where I am today.

I come into contact with a number of people who have fallen victim to the iceberg effect. Then when times get tough they quit. All the hard work they did do is wasted.

If I was going to recommend someone to begin with affiliate marketing I would say to learn from someone who has already done it.

Somebody who has been through the hard times and fallen victim to the iceberg effect.

This comes in the form of learning and there are plenty of opportunities online, Just which one to go for.

Do your research, look into the training that you are about to invest in. Even reach out to existing students.

Be aware of the iceberg effect and make sure you know what lies beneath.

A good start would be educating yourself on the masterplan.

Not only will you get a physical copy to read time and time again. You will have the audio book to listen to.

The Book To Begin

I hope this has helped you get more of an understanding of what the iceberg effect is.
