Metaverse

These days “Metaverse” is creating a lot of buzz. Large companies like the ones of Facebook and Microsoft are investing heavily in them. But what exactly it is and why it is creating buzz right now?
To be honest, it is a little difficult to define “Metaverse” as it is a concept and is a work in progress.

It is defined as virtual digital universe where each individual will spend most of their time and interact with others without any geographical restriction.
It will run in parallel with out physical world and anyone can be part of it.
It is imagined as the next version of internet and will come to reality with the combination of three powerful technologies Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and blockchain. AR & VR have been in the news for quite a long time now but with the recent development of NFTs in blockchain the concept of “Metaverse” will be a reality soon.

Every individual will have his/her own Avatar in this universe and can interact with anything and anyone. With NFTs, its possible to own a digital asset(like Avatars, props, etc)now. So, imagine all games running on a decentralized network like ethereum and you are in them using VR/AR. Now you can buy Sniper gun in PUB-G and can simply take it to CS-Go as well. Everything will be interoperable i.e. there will be no boundaries of any platform specific. Once you buy an asset you can take them anywhere.
And its not limited just to games, there can be virtual live concerts, jobs and other unlimited possibilities. There can be multiple communities having their own digital economies. People can participate and contribute to them by just sitting at their home itself.
