Did you notice how everything keeps getting faster and more urgent? How hard it is just to feed ourselves and tend to all our responsibilities, not to mention meeting the demands of our jobs, school or the kids? If this is so, who has time to sit down and read a book? But we also might be missing an easy and effective habit that affects our daily lives in a far more useful way than much of what we engage in to earn a living. It’s the habit of sitting down — or lying down — and reading or listening to a book every day. Not only is it inexpensive and accessible in our modern age of digital audio and online books, there is growing evidence that integrating books into your everyday life, even if only for 15 minutes a day, can change your physical and intellectual life for the better in tangible ways. There is evidence that daily reading can increase our brain power and reduce stress.
